He underwent residency training in Neurology at the University of California – Irvine. Pursuing his interest in stroke and neurotrauma, he completed fellowships in neurocritical care at the University of California – Los Angeles and Interventional Neuroradiology at Portland Neurovascular Center in Portland, Oregon.
