Hip synovectomy may be utilized in cases of
hemophilia, synovitis, pigmented villonodular synovitis and arthritis and
rheumatoid arthritis of the hip.
Non-surgical alternatives to hip synovectomy include
pain medicine and anti-inflammatory steroid injections. Surgical alternatives
to the procedure include hip fusion, hip replacement and arthroscopic hip
synovectomy.

Complications from Hip Synovectomy:
Possible risks following hip synovectomy include
infection, bleeding, joint scarring, reduced mobility and a negative reaction
to the anesthesia.
Prognosis

The prognosis for a positive end result following
hip synovectomy is good. However, there is a good possibility the synovium will
become inflamed again.
