male sex reassignment.
There are no comparable non-surgical alternatives to
metoidoplasty. As a surgical alternative, a penis may be constructed with skin
flaps.
Anesthesia
with Metoidoplasty:
Metoidoplasty is performed under general anesthesia,
which means that the patient is asleep and completely unaware during the
procedure.
Potential
Complications from Metoidoplasty:
Possible risks following metoidoplasty include
infection, bleeding, swelling, nerve damage, urinary incontinence and a
negative reaction to the anesthesia. It is also possible for the male genitalia
to look unnatural.
