During penile ligament release, the penis is made to
appear longer by creating an incision through the ligament located under the
base of the penis. This releases part of the penis that is normally inside the
body and extends the length by about one inch. This length is maintained by
attaching external weights for a period of several months.

Conditions
Treated with Penile Ligament Release:
Penile ligament release may be performed in cases of
a short penis.
There are no comparable non-surgical alternatives to
penile ligament release. Penoscrotal webbing release and pubic liposuction are
surgical alternatives to the procedure.
Anesthesia
with Penile Ligament Release:
Penile ligament release is performed with a local or
regional anesthetic.
Potential
Complications from Penile Ligament Release:
Possible risks following penile ligament release
include infection, bleeding, swelling, bruising, scarring, erectile dysfunction
and a negative reaction to the anesthesia that is used.
Prognosis
after Penile Ligament Release:
The prognosis for a positive end result following
penile ligament release is fair, but patient satisfaction is not high.
