The Best Foods to Eat When Sick
When you're sick, eating is the last thing on your mind, but you have to keep up your strength to get better. Eating the right foods can actually eliminate some of your worst symptoms and help you heal faster.

Garlic and Onions

Garlic and onions are natural antibiotics that can shorten the life of a bacterial or viral infection. If all you can keep down is chicken soup, make sure to add lots of garlic and onion to it to speed your healing time.

Ginger

Ginger root is not only antibacterial, but is also an anti-emetic. Pregnant ladies have used ginger tea for hundreds of years to ease morning sickness. Ginger is recommended as a treatment for Montezuma's Revenge, a horrible illness you contract from drinking contaminated water in tropical countries. Munching on candied ginger can help sooth your tummy when you get a stomach bug.

Popsicles

If you have a fever, you run the risk of dehydration. Popsicles are cooling, soothe your throat and help keep you hydrated. If you have the equipment to make our own frozen ice pops, make them with your favorite fruit juice or electrolyte replacing beverage to replace lost nutrients.

Bananas

Bananas are chock full of potassium, a nutrient that is depleted when you are vomiting or have diarrhea. They also contain 30 percent of the recommended amount of vitamin B6 and help the brain produce serotonin to help you get through your health crisis peacefully.

Potatoes

A medium potato contains 37 grams of carbs, which pump up your serotonin levels. They are good for relieving headaches and giving you some quick, nutritious energy when you most need it.

If you want to get well fast, proper nutrition and hydration is the key. Eating these healing foods can help you shorten your road to recovery so you can return to your normal routine in record time.
