A buttock lift is a procedure that removes extra fat and skin from the buttocks area. In some cases, excess fat and skin is also removed from the upper thigh. This improves the look of the buttocks area and gives it a “lifted” appearance.
Also Known As:
- Buttock reduction
- Butt lift
- Excisional back lipectomy
Conditions Treated with Buttock Lift:
A buttock lift is utilized to correct sagging buttocks or thighs and provide a more natural appearance. For many patients, these sagging areas are a result of extreme or rapid weight loss.
There are no comparable non-surgical or surgical alternatives to a buttock lift.
Anesthesia with Buttock Lift:
A buttock lift is typically performed under local anesthesia and sedation. However, for some patients, general anesthesia may be used.
Potential Complications from Buttock Lift:
As with any other procedure, there are risks of the patient experiencing infection, bleeding, or a negative reaction to the anesthesia that is used. Complications that can follow the buttock lift include bruising, soreness, scarring and swelling.
Recovery from Buttock Lift:
The total recovery time for a buttock lift is four to six weeks.
